Saltwater Connection
Saltwater Connection represents the deep spiritual connection we have as Bundjalung people to our saltwater Country. Being saltwater people, the ocean and waterways have always been a big part of who we are. They hold our stories, our songlines and our connection to our ancestors.
The flowing lines throughout the artwork represent the movement of water through Country and the songlines that connect our people to the places around us. They represent the journeys our ancestors travelled and the stories that have been passed down through generations.
The circles represent our people, our families and our gathering places. They show how we come together and how our connections flow through Country, just like the waterways that have connected our people for generations.
For me, saltwater is more than just the ocean. It carries a spiritual connection. It’s a place where I feel connected to Country, to my ancestors and to the stories that have been here long before us. That connection to our ancestors is something that continues to live through us and through the stories and songlines we carry today.
Saltwater Connection is about being saltwater people. It’s about our stories, our songlines, our spirituality, our connection to Country and our connection to our ancestors. It’s a reminder of where we come from, who we are and the importance of carrying those connections and stories forward for generations to come.
